Fabric requirements For one sleeveless A‑line dress (18‑inch doll): Main fabric: Amount: ⅓ yard (30 cm) of 44/45" wide woven Closure: Option 1: 4–5 small sew‑on snaps Option 2: 4–5" strip of hook‑and‑loop tape Notions & tools: Thread: All‑purpose polyester or cotton Marking tools: Fabric pen/chalk Pins or clips Iron & pressing surface Paper & printer (to print the PDF pattern once you lay it out) Fabric suggestions For a neat inverted pleat and crisp A‑line shape, choose light to medium‑weight woven fabrics : Best choices: Quilting cotton Cotton poplin Cotton lawn or voile (for a softer drape) Also suitable: Lightweight linen or linen‑blend Cotton sateen (for a slightly dressier look) Avoid: Stretch knits, jersey, heavy denim, thick canvas—these will distort the pleat or feel bulky on a small doll
